Stone Depot Dance Lab and Rain Ross Dance are pleased to present Absence/Presence, a dance performance showcasing truly physical movement. Premiering the first weekend of Philly Fringe, this dynamic show kicks off the Festival on September 3rd and 4th with two performances at 7 pm and 9 pm and at the CHI Movement Arts Center (1319 S. 9th Street, 19147) in the heart of South Philadelphia.

Choreographers Eleanor Goudie-Averill and Rain Ross explore political and historical subjects including social activism, identity vs. what we project to society, and technology and its effect on communication.

The desire for contact and connection interplay in the finished works, which include Ross’ Fresh Hell, a scintillating portrait of Dorothy Parker, and Goudie-Averill’s dynamically moving new quartet, Convictions. This is a show for the intelligent dance lover as well as those who appreciate a pure energetic performance experience.

The show also features new music by NYC-based composer Caleb Engstrom and dancers Scott McPheeters, Lindsay Browning, Marie Brown, and Beau Hancock.  (Photo Credit:  Lindsay Browning)
